The combined training has provided Annette with a diverse knowledge base, skill set and competence to help people struggling with a wide variety of life experiences and mental health issues.
Her core approach which includes Person Centred Counselling, Multicultural Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy involves listening to clients and helping them explore their life and experience. This allows people to identify the emotions, behaviours and situations which cause difficulty. Annette then encourages clients to become more reflective and aware of their experiencing, that is how their responses, thoughts, emotions and body reactions emerge and relate to each other. By gently raising this awareness clients are supported to make choices which bring about the change that will be most helpful to them in their lives.
Annette uses therapeutic art-making and mindfulness to grow this capacity and to help people find balance and regulation in their mind, which is linked to a mentally healthy life. This approach develops the often-neglected non-verbal parts of the mind, allowing deeper work to be achieved on developmental and traumatic experiences which can often be at the root of Anxiety and Depression
