Carla specialises in conducting autism assessments with children and young people, and is passionate about placing the child at the centre of the process, ensuring their strengths and potential are recognised and that they have a voice within the process. Her assessments are multi-disciplinary, following best practice guidelines, and carried out with a CORU-registered Senior Speech and Language Therapist or Occupational Therapist. Reports will be accepted by the HSE and/or Department of Education and include recommendations around service provision and educational placements.
Carla also offers cognitive assessments which can establish your child’s learning needs as well as strengths, while she also conducts assessments to identify intellectual giftedness.
In addition, Carla provides one-off parent consultations to discuss any concerns you have regarding your child's emotional/mental wellbeing or behaviour as well as referral pathways for assessment etc. These consultations may include the use of psychometric screening tools (questionnaires) as well as a developmental interview.
Carla strives to empower young people and families to recognise the strengths they already hold themselves and is always mindful of the leap of faith involved in reaching out to someone for help and support with their child, as well as the support that parents can need at times themselves as they navigate the parenting journey.
