I am a qualified Integrative Therapist/Counsellor and an Accredited member of the IACP (Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and uphold their code of ethics.
I have completed the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills training (ASIST), and have worked for the charity SOSAD, Drogheda on a voluntary basis. As part of my continuing professional development and requirements of the IACP, I continue to keep up to date with Psychotherapy workshops, current research in Counselling & Psychotherapy interventions and training. I am available for face to face appointments and/or online should the client prefer one or the other.
My qualifications being integrative in nature means I combine various theoretical approaches. A client can expect that they will be given the safe and confidential space to talk about the issues they are experiencing, without being given expert opinions or solutions. Clients are believed to have the expertise within themselves and resources to reach their full potential and development. Research indicates that the quality of the relationship between the client and therapist has a positive impact for a client’s self-healing. This means client may expect empathy, authenticity, and non-judgment from the therapeutic relationship. Other approaches which I employ such as Choice Theory/Reality Theory or CBT techniques may be more directive in nature and I am led by the client as to which approach best suits them.
My experience to date is with Individual clients, aged 18 years and upwards. I will be available for Couples counselling from February 2022.
Issues and concerns which I have experience in are:-
