I am a qualified Integrative Therapist/Counsellor and pre-accredited IACP member (Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and uphold their code of ethics.
I have completed the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills training (ASIST), and work for the charity SOSAD, Drogheda on a voluntary basis. As part of my continuing professional development and requirements of the IACP, I continue to keep up to date with Psychotherapy workshops and training.
My qualifications being integrative in nature means I combine various theoretical approaches. A client can expect that they will be given the safe and confidential space to talk about the issues they are experiencing, without being given expert opinions or solutions. This sees clients as having within themselves the resources to reach their full potential and development, once the core conditions of the therapeutic relationship are present. While other approaches may come into play which may suit some clients more by using cognitive behavioural techniques which are more directive in nature.
My experience to date is with clients, aged 18 years upwards covering issues such as:
- Relationship difficulties
- Bereavement, Grief and Loss
- Personal Development
