Deirdre is a qualified Psychotherapist/Counsellor achieving a BSc (Hons) in Psychotherapy and Counselling through Middlesex University. She is an accredited member of the IACP (Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy working within their ethical guidelines.

She works with clients using a variety of approaches with a view to helping them gain a deeper understanding of themselves. She believes that the client has all the resources needed within themselves to build the life they want and the therapist’s role is to facilitate the client to discover and become more aware of their own resilience and capacity. She believes that building relationships with ourselves can improve our relationships with others and help us to respond rather than react to the world around us.
Deirdre is experienced in working with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, loss, bereavement, relationships, fear, trauma, abuse, suicide, sexuality, stress and addiction.
She continues to work on her professional development and is currently studying EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) particularly relevant in the treatment of trauma. Deirdre believes that trauma comes in many forms and although the experience of trauma may be in the past the body may retain the ongoing impact of what has happened. She has a keen interest in working with clients collaboratively to resolve these issues, supporting clients to return to full enjoyment of their daily lives.
